Mieczysław Ryba – PhD with habilitation, historian and associate professor at the John Paul II Catholic University in Lublin at the Department of the Spanish World, Politics and International Relations. Chairman of the Prof. Czesław Strzeszewski Club of the Catholic Intelligentsia in Lublin, member of the Council of the Institute of National Remembrance. He is the author of numerous academic publications, including the following books: Naród a polityka. Myśl społeczno-polityczna twórców ruchu narodowego w okresie międzywojennym (Lublin 1999); Szkoła w okowach ideologii. Szkolna propaganda komunistyczna w latach 1944–1956 (Lublin 2006); Środowiska i ugrupowania polityczne na Lubelszczyźnie w latach 1914–1918 (Lublin 2007), Odkłamać wczoraj i dziś (Warsaw 2014); Stosunki państwo – Kościół w województwie lubelskim 1918–1939 (Lublin 2016); The idea of a Catholic University in the reborn Poland (Warsaw–Radzymin 2018); Kościół i państwo na Kresach południowo-wschodnich II Rzeczypospolitej (Warsaw 2021). On 11 November 2015, he was awarded the Knight’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta for his outstanding contribution to spreading knowledge of Poland’s recent history, and for his academic and pedagogical achievements.
